Gilbert Cabin Remodel

The Gilbert cabin had sat unfinished and empty for a couple of years before we were brought into the picture.  This cabin had previously been started by two other builders and had many things that were not done properly.

One of the first to be redone was the deck.  There were no footings, it was being held up with 2×4’s and it was not secured to the cabin.  Footings were added, and large logs were used for support

The windows and doors had to be redone because they did not fit.  ”Buckings” were added around the windows to give a more finished look.

The stairs leading to the upper level were put in the wrong location and would not pass code.  We were able to rework the plans to put them in a location that worked both for the family and the building inspectors.

Working with the Gilbert’s we were able to make the proper changes and add some beautiful finish work.  This cabin was changed from one where people thought they were crazy to buy it, into one where people ask if it is for sale.
